The kids arrive on Sunday riding in fire engines, with sirens blaring, waving to the crowds in their very own five-alarm parade. With huge smiles on their faces, they step off the fire engines in anticipation of an exciting week ahead. They see new and old friends and are greeted by staff with open arms because camp is like a second family.
Over the course of the week, the campers experience a traditional camp, only super-sized! They spend a lot of time in, around and on the lake. Whether in the swim area, kayaking around the lakeshore, or learning to tube, they have a blast in a safe environment. Certified lifeguards are always watching to ensure everyone's safety!
In the woods, the campers try their hand at the archery range, experience the challenges of a high ropes course or rescue the princess from the climbing tower. All of these areas/activities are led by certified instructors. These team building activities help to create bonding and personal growth experiences.
When in post, the campers can enjoy spending time in arts and crafts. They can make things like duct tape jewelry, rope bracelets, tie dyed shirts, and many more projects throughout the week.
Outdoor games, campfires, cookouts, scavenger hunts, and camp songs are all part of the camp experience. Outdoor movie night under the stars with popcorn and candy is always a camper favorite.
The campers are fed like kings and queens. Our amazing kitchen staff cook up a storm, and campers are sure to have delicious, kid-friendly, well-balanced meals.
The health and well-being of our campers is our number priority. If a need arises, we have a nurse and social workers on site, as well as many firefighters and paramedics.
On the last night of camp, we celebrate with our ever-popular dance, highlighting our camp theme. Campers enjoy a heartwarming slideshow featuring every camper as they participated in the numerous activities throughout the week. The evening concludes with our very own fireworks display over the lake.
On the last morning, campers pack up and prepare to head home they enjoy a hearty breakfast before boarding their busses. With smiles and a few tears, everyone says their goodbyes, promising to see each other soon at our GLBC Winter Camp and the countdown begins.
