Our mission, to strive to provide a unique experience that promotes healing, self-esteem, confidence and general well-being for burn injured children, is what camp is all about. We are a mostly volunteer run organization comprised of caring compassionate adults. Our goal is to provide unconditional love and acceptance to all burn survivors that attend our camp. We are dedicated to creating a safe space for campers to grow and bond with other burn survivors.
We have held summer camp since 1995 and winter camp since 1998. Very often, our former campers return to be staff! They love giving back and can relate their own personal experience to the kids attending camp.
Many of our campers have needs beyond their injuries. Through generous donations we are able to provide all kinds of items to campers, including clothing, toiletries, coats, boots and many other items. Campers at summer camp also receive free backpacks and school supplies.
We also offer scholarships for former campers to attend college or trade school.
Without the support of our volunteers, community and sponsors, Great Lakes Burn Camp would never be possible. We extend a big thanks to everyone who contributes to our mission!
