Mike Longenecker Scholarships shall be in the amount of $2000 per semester. The GLBC Board of Directors shall review the fund and usage every year in the spring to determine the amount for the next school year.
Applications for GLBC Campers will be available online.
Applications must be submitted no later than August 1 for the first semester and January 1 for the second semester.
The GLBC Board President will receive applications. If the applicant qualifies for the scholarship, a check will be issued for that semester.
To qualify for a Mike Longenecker Scholarship:
Applicant must have attended at least one GLBC camp session as a camper.
Applicant must provide proof that they have been accepted into a post high school program that works towards a certificate or degree.
Applicant must remain active in camp. If the applicant lives in Michigan, they must show proof that they have assisted with two GLBC fundraisers per year. This is in addition to any requested volunteer work at a GLBC camp.
After the initial semester, applicant must provide transcripts or a report card from the previous semester to continue to receive their next scholarship check.
An applicant may receive money for up to eight semesters. They do not have to be consecutive.
If an applicant feels they have a special circumstance that requires other considerations; the applicant shall submit a letter explaining the situation to the Board of Directors for review. The Board of Directors shall determine if the circumstances warrant a change in the scholarship at their next scheduled meeting.
